Jobs resentment understandable

I FULLY agree with Emma Smith when she states: "Irish jobs should go to to Irish people" (Letters, February 18), and I sympathise with Sarah Moore, a university-educated young woman who was forced to emigrate because she couldn't find suitable employment in Ireland (Letters, February 18).

I doubt if "naked greed and cronyism" created the conditions that she claims caused her to leave, but I do think the presence of too many immigrants, legal and illegal, may be a contributing factor.

Ever since economic conditions in Ireland improved from around the early-1990s to nearly two years ago, it seemed as though few of its young people would be forced to emigrate for lack of well-paying jobs.
