It's not the time for a blue Christmas

I've heard of Blue Flu, but this is ridiculous. On the main street of my home town, where once fairy lights twinkled brightly, I was appalled to see it is now decked out with lights that glow dark blue and sombre.

Rather funereal, don't you think? What next, I ask? Is there someone out there with a bubbling brew that will ensure next year we have blue holly? Why not cut out 'Holy Night' and have Elvis belting out 'Blue Christmas'?

I know we are going through rough times, yet we should not look like we are in mourning.
