TO ensure full co-operation in the investigation of the use of Irish passports by Israeli agents, I suggest the temporary closure of the Israeli embassy in Dublin.
This would ensure that Ireland's concerns over the fraudulent use of Irish passports and the security risks this posed to Irish citizens would be taken seriously.
When Israeli agents were caught red-handed in New Zealand using fake New Zealand passports, the two culprits involved were jailed and the government froze relations with Israel until they received an admission of guilt and an apology. It took 18 months, but the sanction of freezing diplomatic relations worked.
Ireland must take action to protect its citizens, especially those working in the Middle East and protect the reputation of Ireland internationally.
