John Delaney's Letter of the Day in Friday's Irish Independent is very reactive without at all being proactive!
I'm not so sure economics should ever be a reason to stop printing state material in our national tongue. If you stop that practice, as well as public signage in Irish, we will see even less of Gaeilge than we do now.
However, we have bastardised our language over the years and made a complete laughing stock of it. There are hundreds of examples, but surely 'An Zu' must be the tin hat -- do the people in so-called authority not realise that there is no z in Irish?
