Intelligent input from the outside
Having read about Professor Patrick Honohan's background and his attitude to an inquiry into the banking crisis in Ireland, I sincerely hope he is put in charge of any inquiry that is to take place.
I hope too, as suggested by Fionnan Sheahan (Irish Independent, January 18), that the politicians associated with the banking crisis attend this inquiry to answer questions in public.
I hope an economist from outside the country, who, like Prof Honohan, is of international standing will be invited by the head of the inquiry to take part in the questioning. Someone like Joseph Stiglitz.
