I'm emigrating again and I won't be back

IN 1986 at the age of 25, I was forced to emigrate and found myself in London. I had left Ireland with two suitcases and about IR£1,000 in my pocket. I spent 11 years in the UK, during which time I managed to get to university and obtain a degree in civil engineering. I returned to Ireland in 1997 with a 10-year-old car, five suitcases/bags and about £8,000 sterling.

In 2011 and now aged 50, I now find myself in a situation where I am more than likely going to emigrate again.

I have decided to spend the summer here and prepare for my departure, clearing out my home and preparing it for sale or possibly rental and selling off excess possessions.
