'Illegal' roster changes not part of deal
FOR the past six years I have worked as cabin crew for Aer Lingus. I love my job. I have missed countless Christmases, new years, weddings, funerals, etc because of my job but I accepted it.
Because I worked so hard this Christmas to get people home during the snow I almost got stuck away and missed my own Christmas, even though it was my first time spending it with my partner in our house. (We moved in three years ago and he missed the first two as he was serving overseas in Chad, then Kosovo).
I am not afraid of hard work. I have accepted, over and over again, changes to our rosters and one pay freeze after another. I accepted it when we had to work more hours for less money because we are in a recession and I feel we each need to do our bit. This is too much, though.
