I thought Catholicism was about forgiveness
MSGR Brendan Houlihan's ‘upset' at the inclusion of Osama bin Laden's name on the Mass list in Howth parish is confusing.
I thought Catholicism was all about ‘the need for forgiveness', that ‘we are all God's children', and praying for the dead. Apparently not – maybe I misheard all those Sundays? Maybe in Ireland we are at last abandoning our Catholicism and subscribing to the WASP form of Christianity where God is only interested in the ‘respectable' members of society, and where it is assumed He shares our politics.
