I am horrified by Dooley's stance
Horrified describes my reaction to the article by Mgr Maurice Dooley (Irish Independent, March 16).
Where in this sad history is one's moral compass? Who needs laws, be they canon or otherwise, to guide us in what is innately right or in this case wrong? I would have hoped that the leadership in my church would always lead the way in this moral guidance.
How fortunate I am to have been raised by parents who guided me in the way of moral right and wrong and did not abdicate these lessons to the men of the church. How tragic it is that many, both lay and clerical, feel it justified to hide behind laws rather than looking inward and realising that children are hurting.
