Hospital visitors should help out
Sir -- As the Sunday Independent has been coming into my home since the Sixties, and after seeing an article about hospitals in last Sunday's paper, I thought I'd pen these lines. The hope is that the newspaper will take on board the cause of all those poor people confined in hospitals badly in need of attention.
For the visitors to such places, there is a sense of shock that people so ill should have to put up with such conditions, which no society in the civilised world would tolerate.
The suggestion which I have is that all the repairs to doors, windows, floors, toilets, washing facilities and general cleaning would be undertaken by people from all aspects of society -- including those who have family members in the hospitals and those that have not.
