Greens' van-tax plan overdue

Environment Minister John Gormley is perfectly right to be cracking down on the private use of commercially taxed vehicles.

Why should some people have to pay the high rate of car tax for private use and others be allowed to have it both ways and use their vehicles for both private and commercial use at a much lower rate?

It's easy to pass off the use of commercial vehicles for errands such as shopping and school runs as trivial but it is mostly for similar types of errands that private vehicles are used.
