Green stag plan is dangerous one

IT IS now almost a month since the Ward Union Hunt held their first meet of the season on St Stephen's Day

The stag released by the hunt that day is still at large in the Meath countryside, distressed at his separation from his herd and posing a threat to motorists and walkers. He is also risking injury to himself or others.

Had the hunt been permitted to pursue him with hounds, he would now be long back in the Ward Union deer reserve, safe, well-fed and contented among his own species.
