God in the details
• In response to Mr O'Neill's letter: 'Why atheists need to do the maths on God' (Letters, June 26), Mr O'Neill makes the point that "militant, intolerant atheism and militant, intolerant Christianity (are) equally debilitating to the human quest for significance and meaning".
Firstly, "militant atheism" is an oxymoron. As philosopher AC Grayling says, "it's like sleeping furiously."
Secondly, science has nothing to say about meaning or significance. It, as an entity, is uninterested in meaning and significance. However, don't take that to mean that you can't find meaning and significance in science.
