GOAL's prayers are answered

On behalf of everyone at GOAL, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to so many people for the contribution they made to the release of our two GOAL workers, Sharon Commins and Hilda Kawuki.

I want especially to thank the Irish government for the part that they played, not only Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin, who kept the issue high on the political agenda, but also Secretary General at the department, David Cooney, and his staff, who played such a pivotal role over the past three-and-a-half months.

I would also like to express my appreciation to the Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, Dermot Earley, and the Commissioner of An Garda Siochana, Fachtna Murphy, both of whom provided high-level experts who were key players in the negotiations.
