Gilmore was criticised

Greyhounds badly treated

Madam -- Gene Kerrigan is entirely correct to raise the WikiLeaks revelations regarding Eamon Gilmore last year.

In a leaked cable, the US ambassador Thomas Foley stated that: "Gilmore, who has led calls against a second referendum, has told the embassy separately that he fully expects, and would support, holding a second referendum in 2009.

He explained his public posture of opposition to a second referendum as 'politically necessary' for the time being."

However, Gene Kerrigan is incorrect to imply that no one in the Labour Party showed any concern following these revelations.

I publicly criticised Eamon Gilmore. I further called on him to restore his damaged credibility by honouring his pledge that Labour would only participate in Government if the military use of Shannon Airport by the US was ended.
