Get real

- I am really tired of reading letters from readers moaning and blaming the Franco-German dictators or the bankers for the mess Ireland is in. It is time to get real -- Ireland was living beyond its means the last 10 years.

The boom during the Celtic Tiger years only covered this imbalance, which was unveiled after the housing crash.

If the super-inflated wages and pension entitlements of the public sector were reduced to the wage levels of their UK counterparts, there would have been no need for budget cuts and bailouts.
