Genius turned to national stupidity

Sir -- Marek Rybarczyk from Poland (Sunday Independent, April 17, 2011) wrote that he envied our Celtic Tiger success. Not such a strange statement, given that we were the toast of Europe four years ago.

However, he puts our past glories down to, "Your economic policies and national genius."

Is this what is circulating the world about Ireland, that the Celtic Tiger was a stroke of "National Genius"?

If so, I can't help but wonder what our national stupidity would look like. Oh right. The whole bailout thing.
