Gardai should tackle law-breaking cyclists

The excellent articles by John Meagher highlighting serious anti-social behaviour in Dublin (Irish Independent, May 10, 11) missed out one group that breaks the law every day of the week with impunity.

If anyone wanted to carry any harmful device into Dublin city centre and be conveniently ignored by the gardai, all they need to do is convey it by bike.

Now that there is a high level of gardai on Dublin's streets, they have no excuse not to tackle the scourge of the all-day, red-light running by cyclists as they zig-zag through pedestrians, cycle on the wrong side of the road and abuse footpaths.
