Garda Commissioner’s misguided witch-hunt

• Is it really right that the Garda Commissioner should be wasting his time on a ridiculous witch-hunt because some gardai dared to stand up for their principles?

Whether they are right or wrong is a matter of opinion, but the most basic right in any democracy is that people should be allowed to freely express their opinions, even if they are gardai who are charged with keeping law and order.

Is it not enough that gardai have less right to strike than other public servants because of their role, without now trying to control their thoughts, too?
