Free speech in Ireland matters

Madam -- Ireland's Amnesty International is to be congratulated for bringing to the public's attention over many years the lack of democratic principles in Burma.

I do hope it will now turn its attention to getting media coverage around the world to the state of free speech in Ireland both for the individual and that of freedom of the press. I have contacted Amnesty International Ireland over the years pointing out many examples of the clear denial of speech in this country, only to be told that Amnesty International Ireland did not have the resources to pursue the issues raised.
