Fog lights are not the biggest danger
IN Letters (March 24), Mr Downey argues that every driver with foglights on in clear daylight should be fined. I would invite him to get six cars to do a little exercise in dazzle.
Car 1 would have main beam headlights on; car 2 rear foglights; car 3 (2011 Audi or Fiat 500) would have its EU-approved daytime running lights on; car 4 would have dipped headlights but with a wrongly inserted bulb causing dazzle; car 5 would have front foglights and car 6 dipped headlights.
Then, with the aid of a light meter, he would find front foglights cause much less dazzle than “legal” lights.
