FF tribe has held the country back
Martina Devlin makes a number of astute points about Fianna Fail ('FF must stop putting itself above national interest', Irish Independent, February 20). However, by confining herself too much to the inadequacy of the present administration she falls short of colouring in the big picture.
She understands the Fianna Fail psyche very well. They are a tribe, and as such they are fundamentally unpatriotic at their core and have been since their inception.
For decades they celebrated a charlatan. And despite the fact his greed was well known to every dog on the street, it proved no impediment to him becoming Taoiseach. The emergent picture of an unholy alliance comprising Fianna Fail, the banks, and a cabal of big-shot developers is ample proof that they are not purged of their habitual deceit and chicanery.
