‘Family diversity’ a liberal agenda
CAN Kevin James O’Mahony get through a letter without insulting someone? In his latest missive (Letters, June 23) he attacks concerns about the breakdown of the family (what liberals like to call ‘family diversity’) as ‘homophobic bigotry’.
But how is it bigotry to be concerned about the 500pc increase in marriage breakdown that has occurred in Ireland in the last 20 years? Or the fact that the number of children being raised without the benefit of a married mother and father has doubled in that same time from 12pc to 26pc?
It is a typical tactic of liberals/ leftists to dismiss all opposition to their agenda as ‘bigotry’. But it is an extremely cheap tactic and in the end a convenient way of avoiding the facts, and avoiding a rational argument.
