Entire terrace must be saved
Sir -- The campaign to save 16 Moore Street was initiated by the National Graves Association over 10 years ago. In 2005 the association, along with other interested parties, set up the Save 16 Moore Street Committee. John Drennan's article creates an impression that there is now a conflict of views amongst people who genuinely wish to save the national monument. We can clarify this very simply.
The National Graves Association is absolutely opposed to any plan that in any way infringes on what is now the national monument in Moore Street. Furthermore it is our strong belief that the entire terrace on Moore Street should also be preserved because of its huge historical and cultural significance; not to mention its tourist potential.
It was our belief that, subsequent to the An Bord Pleanala week-long Oral Hearing, the National Monument was saved in its entirety.
