Dubs' snub

• Once again, RTE has shown that it knows the price of everything but the value of nothing. I refer to the RTE Sports Awards.

As usual, the playing pitch is extremely uneven. Giovanni Trapattoni is paid in the millions while Pat Gilroy probably pays for his own petrol. Putting amateurs up against professionals means amateurs will always lose out.

They have their day job to do, while for professionals it is their day job. Mr Gilroy deserved Manager of the Year for bringing the Sam Maguire back to Dublin after 16 years, as did the team for all their superb efforts. It's time TG4 or TV3 moved in and provided sports awards for amateurs.
