Double standards on Wallace affair
Madam -- Over the past few weeks, I've been following with great interest the political ridiculing of the Wexford Independent deputy Mick Wallace for admitting he deliberately engaged in tax evasion. I'm not defending the actions of Mr Wallace, as it's truly outrageous to think he may never pay this €2.2m to Revenue despite receiving a Dail salary. I'm annoyed at what he has done, but as a result of his admission of wrongdoing, we won't be needing another costly tribunal.
That's something we can't say about other cute bucks who have been before tribunals costing taxpayers €300m plus. How many of the stone-throwing pack openly defended those people before becoming members of this sanctimonious group intent on a public humiliation of Mick Wallace in this display of political righteousness?
Moreover, these same self-proclaimed guardians of democracy have not investigated the politicians and the bankers who put the €100bn plus debt around the necks of the taxpayers.
