• I would like to offer my sincerest congratulations -- and also sympathy to the person who wrote the letter signed Anonymous of the Divided House (March 30).
The author seems to be a person of great integrity, caught like myself and many others in the crossfire of this economic downturn.
This letter highlighted the inequalities and the sheer burden the ordinary taxpayer faces while others who have been bone idle for most of their lives seem to benefit most in the long run.
The letter was the main topic of discussion among my peers as we analysed its contents for the best part of an hour.
When it comes to claiming benefits, visiting welfare officers looking for handouts is about the only time when many citizens ever exert themselves.
How about making them work for welfare? All I can say is, thanks for a truthful and interesting read on a very sensitive issue.
For people offended by this topic, talk to Joe Duffy. At the end of the day, the truth really hurts.
