Cute-hoorism is alive and well

The report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) regarding the '52-spouse super-junket' (Irish Independent, February 4) must have indeed caused him some embarrassment, but surely the fault lies with those in the Central Bank who were aware that the information given by them had been misinterpreted.

Did those in the Central Bank who held back the information want to embarrass the C&AG and thereby undermine the good work of his office, the only people in our administration who seem genuinely determined to expose the waste of money in our public sector?

If so, we should be told the exact circumstances in which this information was given.
