Sir -- I was appalled at the headline (Sunday Independent, January 23, 2011), 'The worst week for the worst Taoiseach in the State's history'. On what basis is the assertion made that Brian Cowen is the worst Taoiseach in the State's history? Cowen is not without his shortcomings, but character, courage, integrity and loyalty are not among them. And, I would suggest, these attributes are probably as good a place as any to start when judging standards of leadership. A little less emotion and a little more analysis, please.
