Countdown to HSE scientific vandalism
• On March 31, unless urgent action is taken, the HSE is about to commence an act of scientific vandalism. It has plans in place to destroy more than one million blood samples taken from newly born infants in the period 1984-2002.
These blood samples are a priceless Irish medical resource. They are the material which medical researchers and geneticists can use to develop life-saving tests and procedures.
Every medical professional and all scientific and medical organisations which have commented on this issue are opposed to the destruction of these blood samples.
