Councillors must rethink height of folly
FOR years, Labour, Fine Gael and Sinn Fein councillors in Dublin City Council blamed the destruction of the city on Fianna Fail councillors.
But now they (with a few notable exceptions) have taken the side of the city manager against their constituents, who had overwhelmingly asked them to consider the city and the communities living in it. Ironically, it was Fianna Fail who supported the people in this instance.
The final debate on the Dublin City Development Plan 2011-2017 took place at City Hall on Wednesday. The result is that the low-rise Georgian height of the city is to almost double in some areas.
