Council fishing ban is senseless

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, in their infinite wisdom, have seen fit to propose a change in the bye-laws regarding the coastline stretching from Booterstown to Bray, prohibiting "fishing for pleasure" in all but two very small acres, Bullock and Collimore Harbours.

Having perused the proposed bye-laws it would be easy for the reader to think they were inspecting a document in a country run by martial law, and not a democratic state, or has April 1 passed me by somehow?

The County Council state that this move is in the "interest of the common good of the local community."
