Coalition should listen to Ryanair
MOST of the country will be amazed at the fiasco that ensued over the Ryanair proposal for maintenance jobs at Dublin Airport.
It appears that the Government doesn't like dealing with Ryanair as its boss is a loud, brash, confident sort, who makes no bones about his dislike of the Dublin Airport Authority.
He is a guy who gets things done; he doesn't waffle or engage in diplomatic niceties.
Many people are uneasy with the way that Michael O'Leary operates, but they travel with his airline in their millions.
The Government, and especially the Tanaiste, should put their petty prejudices aside, and deal with Ryanair now.
The excuse that Aer Lingus would not vacate the hangar is laughable. Who are the two biggest shareholders in Aer Lingus? Ryanair and the Government! They have a majority between them and surely they could have persuaded Aer Lingus to vacate Hangar 6?
