• Invariably, over my lifetime I and many of us have remarked how the weather always seems to improve just as the children have gone back to school after their summer holidays.
Might I suggest the children take a cut in their holidays, say all of August, so we can be sure of fine weather for the farmers during their busiest time of the year. After all, the poor bankers have had to take a cut in their bonuses from €2m to €1m -- I just don't know how they can survive!
I know the silly season is over -- but there are a few stragglers left.
