Bertie's tax break too daft to invent

Brian Lenihan is trying to show the international world of finance that Ireland is a safe place to do business.

In parallel, we are trying to generate new revenues by engaging in an enhanced tourism campaign abroad: Ireland is beautiful, a cultural hot-spot and so on.

To promote the image of saints and scholars, we even have a tax exemption in place to support and encourage up-and-coming artists.

One wonders then what foreigners think when they hear that the already wealthy man who led Ireland into its present financial basket-case state is now posing as a struggling author.

You really could not make it up!
