Banks mollycoddled and we pick up tab
WHO, 10 years ago, would believe that the ordinary taxpayers of Ireland would literally own three banks -- Anglo Irish, Irish Nationwide and now AIB.
The only one most of us ever dreamt of acquiring was the 'Bank of Turf' in Bord na Mona.
Unfortunately, if the new banking system and the economy fail to come right this time, it is us, the Government's tabby-cats, that will be called on to pick up the tab.
