Banking danger

• There is a myth prevailing in Ireland today that no alternative exists when it comes to whom we vote for.

However, there is an alternative. What if there was a party set up whose main policy was to introduce a new currency, a punt or an Irish dollar? This would send a clear message to Germany, France and Britain that the Irish people have unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible!

Thomas Jefferson, one of America's founding fathers, once said: "I believe that the banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs."

Jefferson also said: "The dominion which the banking institutions have obtained over the minds of our citizens . . . must be broken, or it will break us."
