Aristocrats run our republic

Madam -- In Plato's The Republic he lists the forms of government from best to worst. At the top was an aristocracy, and the bottom democracy. The fault with democracy was internal competition. The grand irony? We are actually more an aristocracy than democracy! We have ministers prancing around like royalty. Meanwhile, children go to bed hungry as Monsieur Minister dines on the finest cuisine.

The Government has no choice but to bend to the will of powerful Eurocrats. There is a delicate balance between the rulers and the ruled, and that has been disrupted for some time. The republic has become a political aristocracy for the elite.
