Another time

• It was nice to go down memory lane with Terry Healy's letter in yesterday's edition of the Irish Independent. I had a much similar experience growing up in Aughrim, Co Wicklow, in the late 1940s/early 1950s.

I have recently been reminiscing, but from a very different viewpoint.

When I receive my utility bills showing almost €30 for standing charges, PSO levy and VAT, even though I may have used very little electricity and gas, I ask myself why not switch off the electricity and gas?
