Action not words
• Have words such as 'change' and 'progress' lost their meaning? It seems as if they have, in politics at least.
So abused have these words become that politicians now feel the need to put the word 'real' before them, as if change and progress are no longer sufficient on their own to convey meaning. Perhaps if the politicians were to join the rest of us in the 'real' world, they might realise that words without actions render the words meaningless, so it is action that is required, not the addition of more words.
