Action against church is far from persecution
Joe Curran (Letters, July 16) makes the assertion that the Catholic Church is being persecuted.
Persecution, in its proper context, is enduring punishment for doing what is right. Being punished for abusing children, withholding evidence of such abuse and actively attempting to hinder the law by non-reporting does not and never will fall into the category of persecution.
