Abuse on roads is indiscriminate

Your report, 'Foreign visitors appalled by our driving standards, survey finds' (Irish Independent, August 16) reminded me of when I first came to live in Ireland many years ago and I drove around in an English- registered car.

I was shocked at the number of times I was sworn at, cut up and generally abused by other road users.

I thought that this must be because of all the bad things England had done to Ireland over the centuries and so I was forgiving.
