Enda Kenny was anxious to say something. The country was appalled, after all. So word went out and the media dutifully turned up outside the GPO on Thursday.
His immediate reaction was to say that the pension deal arrived at by the Central Remedial Clinic for Paul Kiely was "indicative of a time" which he had hoped was "long gone in Irish politics".
The Central Remedial Clinic revelations have almost everything: cronyism, disabled kids, money and, of course, charity -- the new dirty word of politics.
