On the face of it, it reads like a cautionary tale of loneliness in the time of Covid. The bodies of an elderly English couple, long-time permanent residents in a small village in rural Ireland, are found in their home. They have been dead, the police suspect, for some time, possibly as long as 18 months. In all that time, nobody noticed their absence.
