Young brothers set the pace with chance of 'tweet' deal

Word out in the brave new world of social media is that Twitter is close to doing a deal with online payments start-up Stripe. It is certainly good news for Patrick and John Collison, the 'twentysomething' Limerick brothers and former winners of the BT Young Scientist of the Year, who founded the San Francisco-based online payments system.

The deal, if completed, would allow Twitter users to buy goods and services from retailers over the internet, using Stripe to process the credit card transactions.

The deal would be a huge step forward for both companies.
