Judge Máire Whelan is now a member of the Court of Appeal. At Áras an Uachtaráin yesterday, President Michael D Higgins appointed three judges; Charles Meehan, Eileen Creedon and Ms Whelan.

Done and dusted, so. Not quite.

The unorthodox appointment of the former attorney general has left a sour taste in the mouth for many.
