Triumph of sporting spirit
DUBLIN'S newly opened rugby and soccer stadium stands as a proud and optimistic symbol of better days to come. The rugby set's dream that a Heineken Cup Final will be held in the Aviva Stadium in 2013 inevitably prompts conjecture about what the state of the country will be by then.
Will the transformation at Lansdowne Road be reflected in a new, improved Ireland? Looking at this gleaming, collaborative triumph, it is easy to believe it may be so.
But just as the Aviva Stadium might never have been completed if recession had been allowed to smother the dream, we don't need reminding that national recovery will require similar confidence and perseverance.
