Reformed FF has a place in politics
EVERY day, all across the globe, well-established brand names disappear.
Since the first decade of the Irish State's existence Fianna Fail had been a major political brand. It was organised in every half-parish across the land and nationally it was the party of government which only occasionally and briefly ceded power.
But since its meltdown in the February 2011 General Election it was not hard to imagine the disappearance of the 'FF' brand. Recent political giant though it had been -- Fianna Fail could easily be envisaged joining Clann na Talmhan, Clann na Poblachta, the Progressive Democrats and others as interesting topics for a documentary on vanished political organisations.
