Planning regulator will help restore confidence
WE need transparency in our planning system, especially given the mess we're in. It was poor planning that left us with hundreds of ghost estates, and bad decisions helped kill off town centres in favour of out-of-town development.
Many of the eyesores built during the boom can be attributed to a system that encouraged development at any cost.
And so Planning Minister Jan O'Sullivan should be commended for ordering another review into allegations of poor practice, especially given they relate to some of the State's biggest local authorities.
