Old wine in new bottles

It is hard not to be somewhat sceptical about the plans to reorganise the HSE announced by Health Minister James Reilly yesterday.

Under Dr Reilly's proposals, the existing HSE structure will be replaced by seven directorates, each one of which will cover a different aspect of healthcare. One of the heads of Dr Reilly's directorates will become director general of the entire edifice.

The minister also intends to publish legislation to abolish the HSE shortly. No one will miss the HSE.
